This was a post I did on LinkedIn. The prize has been claimed, so if you're reading it here, sorry bout that, but if you're interested in the content, please read on!
If you're starting out in the industry...
Dig through all the posts. Take the advice of all the influencers. Buy all of the training. And, absolutely go to platforms like YouTube (Network Chuck is the man!), find the channels with the largest following, and do everything they say. That's how you get in, and make it in this industry. There is only one path to success in security and it is to follow big names with big followings that get paid to sell you products, training, exams. They know best, right?

Cool, I appreciate it.
Here's how to get started in security. Get educated. I don't mean a college degree, and I don't mean braindumped certs.
I highly recommend TCM Security to get started. Heath Adams teaches concepts through his courses in a very digestible way. The education is applicable, and practical, and helps build amazing fundamental knowledge.
Case in point...my team just hired a TCM PCRP cert holder who has never worked a day in the industry. Why? Out of all the candidates we interviewed, he was the most career-ready, and best prepared.
I'm currently enrolled in TCM's courses, and I've been in the industry for years. I'm also enrolled in graduate school for cyber security and information assurance. The content quality from TCM surpasses my degree, and it's not close.
I say all of this to say, I'm offering a challenge. This is a good old-fashioned OSINT challenge.
I just bought a 12-month subscription to TCM Academy voucher, and I'm giving it to the first person to DM me where I was when I took this pic. Timestamps FTW!
Good luck, and may the odds be ever in your favor. 🙂
Disclaimer: I am in no way shape or form affiliated with, endorsed by, or compensated by TCM Security or Heath Adams. I am just a huge fan, and grateful for the affordable education they provide. I have learned a ton from them, and that education has helped propel my career. I'm just paying it forward.
